I’m just gonna say it – selling can be scary, especially if you’re new to entrepreneurship or have had negative experiences. But don’t worry, you’re not alone! Many of us have common fears when it comes to selling, such as feeling pushy or being rejected.

But let me tell you something: you’ve been selling your entire life! Whether it was convincing your teacher why you didn’t complete your homework or persuading your parents to buy you a candy bar, you’ve been honing your persuasive skills without even realizing it.

Looking at sales from a new angle

So how can you overcome these fears and sell with confidence? One key strategy is to reframe your mindset around selling. Instead of viewing it as a scary or pushy task, consider it an opportunity to help your potential customers solve a problem or achieve a goal.

Building your sales muscle

Additionally, practicing selling with friends or family can help you build your confidence muscle and hone your skills. Seeking support from a mentor or coach can also be incredibly beneficial in developing your selling skills and overcoming your fears.

Many women entrepreneurs have successfully overcome their fears and achieved sales success. The hardest part for any of us is repeatedly hearing the word “no.” I’ll be honest; it takes a lot of “nos” to get a “yes.”

That’s why I tell people to make it their goal to get 100 nos. Why? Because if you go out with the mission of getting 100 nos, instead of focusing too much on the yesses, you will definitely get some yesses in there. In that way, you’ll have something to celebrate rather than concentrating on the let-downs.
